WE PERFORM THE BEST SERVICES

NAVAL SECTOR

The various stages of involvement in the maritime sector are as follows:

1. Project engineering and associated documentation;

2. Supply of equipment;

3. Systems integration (hardware and software), Main Switchboards, Distribution Swithboards, Motor Control Centers (MCC);

4. Installation;

5. Commissioning;

6. Class Approvals (where applicable);

7. Maintenance, testing and calibration services for the above equipment.

A Gestene, Lda., with the support of its factories, allows all the engineering services and equipments presented to have for each project that the client needs, namely:

Turnkey / Epic Solutions – The essence of the intend project and its timing is defined together with the client. The detail design, system construction, approvals, installation and commissioning will be our responsibility.

Equipment-based solutions – The design of the project is carried out with a third party, but the definition of the best application solution is made by Gestene, with final approval from the client.

Engineering and Design – The system design and documentation is our responsibility. It may also include the operating software of the designed system, with or without our installation.

RETROFITS

It refers to the technological updates in existing systems and installations for low and medium voltage. Retrofit ACB´s can replace obsolete switches and circuit breakers that no longer provide safety.

Top 5 reasons to use Retrofit

1. Improve safety and functionality

Modern circuit breaker technology offer safer operation, remote switching and circuit monitoring.

2. Optimization of existing installations

The frame component of a switchboard (the steel structure and busbars) which is long lasting can be maintained. Only the moving functional components (circuit breakers) are replaced. Retrofit is typically 80% cheaper than replacing a complete switchboard and with a shorter downtime.

3. Availability of parts and components

Terasaki guarantees the availability of replacement parts for at least 10 years after the end of the commercial life of a type of circuit breaker.

4. Modernizes the protection system

Obsolete protection relays can be replaced with modern microprocessor protection relays that are an integral part of the ACB. It is then easier to integrate the ACB interface with a PLC control.

5. Reduction of arc risk

Modern ACBs eliminate short-circuit currents much quicker than older circuit breakers. This means that the associated energy of an electric arc is correspondingly less.

Warranty Extension Possibility

Terasaki offers a standard one-year warranty for our equipment. However, it can extend up to 4 or 5 years, depending on the requirements of the project.

We prefer to carry out an on-site analysis for each retrofit project – even if the circuit breaker project to be replaced is already in our database. This ensures that the installation is as fast as possible, with minimal interruption of supply to the customer. Mechanical and electrical interfaces are modeled using the latest 3-D CAD version. The short-circuit tests of the busbar connections can be performed by independent entities. This provides a guarantee to the customer that the breaking power of the new circuit breakers and connections have characteristics equal to or greater than those of the original system. Routine manufacturing, assembly and testing are carried out at Terasaki’s Glasgow, Scotland facility. The factory and processes are certified to the ISO 9001 quality management standard. Our engineers are recognized for their fast and efficient work. Some of our Retrofit projects can be installed without a general outage. When this is not possible, our team ensures that the interruption is minimal.
